Care homes

Premises compliance for care homes, kept in order every day.

A care home has dozens of premises requirements, each with its own date, contractor and paperwork. We keep all of it current and evidenced, so your managers can give their time to residents and staff.

The challenge

A heavy load on people who are already stretched.

In most homes, premises compliance sits with the registered manager, a deputy or a maintenance lead, on top of everything else they do. Checks are carried out, but records drift: a certificate lapses, an action from a fire risk assessment is forgotten, a contractor visit is never rebooked.

Those gaps tend to surface at the worst moment, when an inspector asks for evidence. We take on the coordination and the record keeping, and keep your managers informed throughout.

What we look after

Every premises requirement, on one register.

Fire safety
Risk assessment actions, alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers, fire doors, drills and training records.
Water safety
Legionella risk assessment, temperature checks, flushing, mixing valves and tank inspections.
Lifts and lifting equipment
Thorough examinations and servicing for passenger lifts, hoists, slings and stair lifts.
Electrical
Fixed wiring inspection, portable appliance testing and the nurse call system.
Gas and heating
Annual gas safety checks, catering equipment and boiler servicing.
Care equipment
Servicing and checks for profiling beds, bed rails, mattresses and weighing scales.
Asbestos
The register, reinspections and surveys before any works.
Premises safety
Window restrictors, radiator covers, automatic doors, pest control and waste records.

How we handle it

The same four steps, for every item.

  1. 01

    Staff checks

We remind your team when routine checks are due, collect their records and flag anything missed or out of range.

  2. 02

    Contractor visits

We book inspections and servicing with your own contractors and confirm access with the home.

  3. 03

    Certificates

We read each one when it arrives: dates, scope, results and the contractor’s competence on the day of the work.

  4. 04

    Remedial work

We log every defect and recommendation, and follow each one through until there is evidence it is closed.

In practice

What that looks like in a typical week

Your maintenance lead receives a reminder for the weekly fire alarm test and submits it from a phone. The lift examination is confirmed for Thursday, with the home manager copied in. A fire door survey arrives; we log its four actions with owners and dates. Nothing on the register is overdue, and you can see that for yourself.

We do not carry out inspections or repairs, and we do not cover care and clinical compliance such as medicines, safeguarding or care plans. Legal responsibility remains with the registered provider and manager.
